Padi Museum at Alor Star, Kedah, Malaysia

(watch video clip after reading )

The Rice Museum (or Padi Museum) is located near Gunung Keriang. This place is known locally as Crystal Mountain because there is natural crystal excavated from the mountain. Gunung Keriang Recreation Park is located at the base of the mountain.Tourist will find alot of crystal sovvenirs for sales.

The main attraction at the Museum is all about the much talk about painting by 7 artists from North Korea. The painting are not those images framed within 4 pieces of wooden frames.

The painting is large, full walled ,3D , and very real and lively. Very impressive and unimaginable such skill is alive on Earth.

On entering the Museum walk up to the Doom using the circular staircase and view the super effect of the Painting either by walking around the Doom or just relaxed by sitting on a chair and let the rotating platform slowly take you around the circular 3D super Painting.

Just take note, do not expect a Tourist friendly environment because buses are not allow into the compound to drop off Tourist even if it rain.

Be prepared to pay 30c just to use the toilets, located outside and at the corner of the Museum compound, even though each visitor have already paid for a RM3 ticket.

If you happen to have an umbrella, be more careful, a monkey might play with it and carry up to the roof and the poor security man have to patiently appeased it to bring it down.

I was told shoes are not even allowed into the Museum during the early days but after much complained of shoes stolen and lost the management withdrew this ruling.

'What a waste, only one of four in the world and left to rot by a rotten management team', said a Tourist.

'Having this super World class 3D Art Painting here is like planting a nice bloom of flowers on a pile of cowdang', added another Tourist.

I am not sure who is right maybe you witness and experience it yourself when you next visit the Rice Museum or Padi Museum.

BLOOD DONATION is good for Hashers.

Peanut King is a regular blood donor. My first blood donation was in 1996. After the donation I felt dizzy often and have the 'vertigo' effect when I move my head from right to left or vice versa. After that I felt abit of phobia when come to donating blood.
I was not a hasher then and not too active in outdoor activities like qigong, taoist taichi and hashing etc.
I started to get involved in outdoor activities in year 2000 after advice from my doctor to reduce some weight and also the always borderline uric acid level. I went for my second blood donation after a break of 4 years.
It was a breeze and the extract of 450 ml of blood from my left arm was fast and painless.
Just like been bitten by a big mosquito.. trust me I have 14 times of blood donation history to proof it.
Hashing activities initially started off with a running social sporting activities which consist of

* a run ie: a trail is laid by one of the hashers(hare),

* a circle ie: when the run is over the harriers gather together to drink beer or water etc., and finally

* an On On ie: where more beer is drunk and food served.

Base on the description above alot of people think that hashing is a 'social ill'.

That's why hashing has been mistakenly called a "drinking club with a running problem".

I, Peanut King, as a hasher for 8 years , dare to say that is not the image we hashing chapters are promoting nowadays.
Hashing chapters are more socially conscious, we loves to protect the nature and we are highly against the illegal destruction of nature and forest reserved.
We hashers have a MOTTO which we observed very strictly when hashing.

"Take nothing but photographs, Leave nothing but footsteps!"
Before I divert too far away from this blogging issue , we hashers too have our 'pay back time'.
This issue I like to promote blood donation by all healthy hashiers & harriettes.

It only takes about an hour out of your busy schedule and it may save a life. Donating blood may not only benefit the person who received the blood cells but may also improve the health of the donor.

Blood donation removes some of the excess iron which can cause free radical formation in the body.In fact, studies have shown that men who donate blood on a regular basis have a lower risk of heart disease.
How can you be sure you're not giving away too much iron?
Before you're allowed to donate blood, your hemoglobin level, a rough measure of your iron levels, will be checked. If it's deemed too low, you won't be allowed to donate that day.

Your hemoglobin level will be monitored closely every time you present for donation and you'll only be allowed to donate every eight weeks to prevent too much iron from being removed from your body. It's a free and easy way to keep track of your iron levels.

Donating blood may reduce risk for heart disease, and stimulates the generation of red blood cells.
The benefit of the donors other than those mention above are:

* you receive a small red book or 'sijil certificate' to acknowledge your donation.
* the number of times of donation is recorded.
*this record acts as an insurance for your future need.(touch wood)Just in case due to mishap

you or your next of kins needed blood the book of record can save their lives by not waiting for donors before the hospital perform any blood transfusion during emergency.
Please come in full force on the 14th June 2009 to donate the gift of life.

(the photo of the banner above is self explainary).

The team from the 'national blood bank' will be at the covered open air basketball court at Batu 11th mile ,Cheras.

Things to remember before donation.

* no consumption of alcohol, drugs ,medication on the eve of donation.( ie on 13th june 09)
* no sexual activities prior to donation.
* Have a good 8 hours sleep the night before.
* Please take your breakfast or brunch before donation.

Fantastic Mulu Caves and Pinnacles adventure.

The Mulu Caves cum Pinnacles climb is a great success as far as I am concerned. The weather was good until we arrived at Gunung Mulu National park. It rains almost every night till dawn.

On the eve of our ascend to the Pinnacles, it rain till 3am. I was so worried that the climb might be cancelled by our mountain guide.

On the other hand I was also worried about the wet and slippery ground leading to the Pinnacles.

All the 22 +2 of us got up at about 5.00am,had our breakfast at 5.30am and got ready by 6.30am to start the
ascend of the Pinnacles. 3 guides lead the way.

The front runner made it in 1 hr and 50 mins (recorded by Suen Wong Lai (see pic,) of CH4 & Sunday hash ), follow by
'Kai Chung and others very fit hashers of Kajang Hash,Cheras Hash and Sunday Hash).

I took almost 4 hours of agony climbing the steep, slippery mountain ,which is full of sharp limestone rock and curly roots of the jungle trees, with a gradient of 70 to 80 % .
Peanut Queen and myself reach the Pinnacles at 11.30am on 13th march 2009.

By 12 noon I decide to decend cos being a slow and over careful hasher, I know I need extra time compare to the first guy to reach the base at 12.30pm.

It took me almost 5 hours to decend amist the rest and drinking in between the tiring decend.

Its really toturing on the thigh muscles cos every steps have to be stepped on carefully. Any fall will be a disaster with so much sharp rocks around.

Peanut Queen, Pusing Kiri Kanan and myself reached the base Camp 5 by 4.00pm under a shower of rain which start at 3.30pm.

It started well and end well inspite of the very tiring and slippery adventure. Given a chance I would vote to come back again to say 'HELLO' to such a magnificient creation of Nature.

I definitely recommend it to Hashers or Nature lovers to try it once in your life time.

Do Hashers really have the drinking problem ?

I, PeanutKing, personally do not think so. After been hashing for almost 8 years , most of my hasher friends I have met loves to sweat it out after a week of hard and stressful working environment.

Those who loves a few drink of beers during hashing circle also make it a point to sweat first before cheering the whole night away. So the conclusion that most hashers are alcoholic is very bias. Most of them are very health conscious.
Do you guys think my friend in the photo is a alcoholic. He is just having a few drinks at 'ONE GO'.
Hashers come from all wok of life ranging from blue collars to white collars. The only thing they have in common is they all ENJOY most is turning beer, wine, bourbon, whisky, brandy and martinis into URINE.
ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.!!

Does Kajang Hash need a 1111th Celebration Run??

Photo taken during KH3 D & D 2008.

Kajang Hash is considering a yearend celebration RUN (in October 2009) in conjunction with our 1111th run.

Question on whether or not to celebrate was thrown to the floor yesterday to some committee members present and Kajang hashing members during the circle after our weekly run at Jalan Kacau (duck farm), Semenyih. The Hare of the night was 'Tai Fatt/Boh Siah'....Good RUN, On On.

Majority of the members voted for a celebration. Some were neither yes or no, including our On-Sec Raymond SMC.

In view of the prevailing recessionary mood and business slow down across the economy and the whole world, such a vote of support is highly commendable... Big Hand !!

For those that have abstain from voting or confirming the celebration. I think they just need abit more time and details and most important of all the damages each and every member have to fork out.

For many years in the past, members are cornered and near harrashed into forking out damages which they think is not their sole responbility but be share out with all members according to affortability.

Money contribution immaterial of any amount should not be the sole criteria to judge whether or not a member support a celebration. Contribution in kind, eg home made cakes, food & fruits, skillful contributions such as the OC team, performances or display put up by members, clearing of rubbish after celebration, time sacrifices by members during meeting, etc should also be consider a generous contribution to the success of any celebrations in mind.

Other than an amount of fixed contribution from members, agreed by committee at meeting, any other amount collected should be voluntarily and depends on the generousity of the member concerned.

Kajang hash must first have a budget and focus and resources be built around it. Any extra amount received due to the generosity of members and friends of KH3 should be view as a BONUS.

Last but no least, members immaterial of ranking, status, sex, religion and race, should be make to feel proud with 'A host like feeling built in them'. Kajang hash must always make sure bickering issue are quickly disolved, quarrelsome attitude be turn into friendship and joke, petty issue of the past be buried once and for all.

"We are all like brothers and sisters", this famous quote from our present GM Funtoong sum it all. Once members achieved a sense of belonging to KH3 , any call of celebrations will only bring pride and happiness and members will be more than proud to tell the world..."WE ARE TRULY KH3 MEMBERS". By then the OC better not be targeting 1000 or 1200 attandance. It could run into 5 figures if we dont put a stop to it.....haha..... well done.

The above are my personnal opinion as a Hasher with KH3. Members are welcome to comment without fear of favour.

PeanutKing appear in THE STAR at last for good reason.

Its not very often people appear in the media for good reason.I am glad my appearance is associated with The Royal Selangor Club Hash House Harriers (RSC hhh) 125th anniversary celebration.

I love the camera this reporter use, make me look slim and handsome..(hehe...not that I am not slim or handsome on normal day).Maybe the reporter have set in the 'slim enhancement mode' to slim down my 2 hashing friends beside me.

Just for your info this reporter snap the top 5 runners during the run. During anniversary run or hashing I cannot let my Kajang Hash House Harrier (KH3) chapter down.

Disco Curry Mee from Royal Selangor Club 125th Anniversary.

Royal Selangor Club 125th Anniversary celebration consist of 2 days..ie on 9th & 10th Jan 2009.

RSC Hash celebrates the 125th Anniversary of the Royal Selangor Club with 2 runs.

I attended the second day celebration at Mt Kiara Equestrian. Weather was cloudy but all turn out fine in the end.

The long run started on time at 4.30pm with the medium and short run at 4.45 pm and 5.00 pm respectively.

The venue was superb, carnival- like with ample tables and chairs arrange in the middle of the football field.

Food was aplenty with carlsberg beer free flowing right through the night.

The night ended with some funny and tickling entertainment and the highlight of the night was the role play of how hashing begins from the British days and how it spread to Malaysia..well done.

The talk of the night among us hashers was the Disco Curry Mee from Klang. With the radio blasting with CHA CHA songs the cook swaying to the tune of the music and cooked up some wonderful tasty curry mee.

One serving is definitely not enough. I have hashing friends queing up a few rounds to satisfy their hunger.Watch the video to find out how such simple noodle can be turn into a delicacy.
